Hope came to me unbidden,
A gift I don't control:
A light I can't extinquish,
A candle for my soul.
Mere words do not erase, destroy
The darkness that persists;
But deep within my heart
His Candlelight resists
The winds of opposition
To good and God and grace.
When winds blow strong I hold
That Candle near my face.
By its warm Light I've come to see
That Hope is His, a gift to me.
