Light two votives -- one in "Peaches & Cream" scent and one in "Creme Brulee" -- these gourmet soy/palm wax votives (or potpourri melting tarts, if you prefer) will fill your home with the lovely aroma of this dessert anytime.
APPLES & PEACHES CRISP
Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup, plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2-1/2 pounds (5 large) Granny Smith apples, cored and thinly sliced
2 1/2 cups fresh (or frozen, but thawed) peach slices (peeled if fresh)
3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon mace or cloves or cardamom (your preference)
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Nonstick cooking spray
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F. Combine 1/2 cup of the brown sugar and 1 tablespoon flour in a large bowl. Add apple slices and peaches; toss to coat. Place in a 9x11-inch baking pan coated with nonstick cooking spray.
In another bowl, combine the oats, cinnamon and other spices, salt, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup flour. Add the butter, and use a pastry blender or your hands to combine the mixture until crumbly.
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the fruit mixture. Bake 45-50 minutes or until apples are tender and mixture is bubbly and brown on top.
